“The necessity of professional public servants leading our nation in a variety of different career fields cannot be overstated. If we are going to be educating tomorrow’s leaders then it is a moral imperative that we see to an education that is equally steeped in virtue and professional ethics as it is a rigorous and well-rounded curriculum. Personally, I would be satisfied knowing that I took an active role in modeling an institution that would mold civil leaders into educated, mentally tough, and ethical individuals.”
Lt. Ryan Collins (West Point, 2006), now serving in Iraq,
on why he is volunteering to help build the Public Service Academy

“The Public Service Buck Stops Here”
Thus reads the title of a powerful statement of support for the Public Service Academy drafted in June by forty 2007 Truman Scholars. This statement was presented to Missouri Sen. Kit Bond to encourage him to co-sponsor the Academy bill. Along with the Truman Scholars, the Academy has benefited tremendously from the support of other youth leadership organizations, including Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, Breakthrough Collaborative, and Coca Cola Scholars Foundation.
