Where will I be staying?
You will be staying in a double room in a dormitory on the campus of The George Washington University. You will be assigned another National Youth Council member as a roommate.

When should I arrive?
You should plan to arrive by the early afternoon on Wednesday, July 9. You will able to begin checking in to your room at 3pm, and conference activities start at 6pm.

When will the conference be over?
All conference activities will end by noon on Friday, July 11. You should plan to leave that afternoon or evening.

Into which airport should I fly?
Three airports serve the DC metropolitan area: Reagan National (DCA), Baltimore Washington International (BWI), and Dulles (IAD). DCA is by far the closest and most convenient, but it tends to be more expensive. BWI offers cheap fares and is accessible by bus and Metro, but it is more than an hour away. IAD combines the worst of both worlds — it is expensive and quite inaccessible. Academy staff members will be posted at DCA and BWI to assist with the arrival of conference participants.

Could I take the train?
Amtrak is a great way to travel, particularly if you are arriving from the Northeast. Click here to make reservations. Trains arrive at DC’s Union Station, which is just a short Metro trip away from GW.

What Metro station is closest to GW?
GW is conveniently located near the Foggy Bottom/GWU station along the Blue/Orange lines. For a map of the entire Metro system, click here.

Should I drive?
Driving and parking in DC is notoriously difficult, so we encourage to seek other means. There are a number of lots on GW’s campus (click here for rates), as well as a variety of garages nearby. Expect to pay exorbitant rates.
